Happy Boy

I Love These Girls!

The girls had THREE hotdogs EACH for dinner on Monday night! Usually I have to BEG them to finish their dinner, but it's a rare occasion that they ask for seconds of something, almost unheard of for them to ask for thirds! In light of the recent news that hotdogs can be quite a health risk, I feel a bit guilty... but, I practically grew up on hotdogs and am not dead yet! It was just a quick dinner kind of night. They each probably eat 1-2 hotdogs a month, primarily in warm weather, so I doubt it's much of a big deal.

Swimming lessons on Saturday were fantastic! The instructor brought out the life vests and we strapped them up all nice and snug. Lorelai did great! She wobbled for the first few moments, trying to get her balance right, but got the hang of it without any incident. :) She was paddling back and forth just like a little fish. Felicity, on the other hand, with all her chunk and the life vest, was just bobbing away, rolling with no control. It didn't make for a very fun lesson for Felicity - she wasn't enjoying herself as much as Lorelai was. LOL. It might take her a bit longer to get her balance straight in the water. This next lesson is the last one, and then we'll be able to put Lorelai in a 'big-girl' swim class that doesn't require mommy and daddy.

After the swimming lessons, we stuck around the pool and played in the water park - a gated area where water shoots from the ground, there are little water guns, waterfalls, etc. Then, we moved over to the kiddie pool and let the girls play. Lorelai is really perfecting going under water and 'swimming!'

We got back to the house and she exclaimed to grandma, "We were just at the cat pool, Grandma!" LOL. Cat pool? Oh, the kiddie pool? She hears 'kitty' pool, not kiddie pool!

And when we were watching The Bachelorette Monday night... well, back up. We put the girls down for bed just as it was coming on, but a bit later, Lorelai came downstairs because she had to pee. Uh-huh. Suuuuure! :) Then, about 30 minutes later, she came down again because... more pee! I thought it was super cute, especially since she so rarely comes up with an excuse to actually come downstairs after we put her to bed, so I let her stay up to finish watching it. I told her it was the story of a princess trying to find her prince charming. Anyway, she saw the limousines, and said, "Mommy, that car is really smushed." I think she was trying to say stretched, but either way, it was more Lorelai cuteness.

Catching Up

We still haven't gotten around to fixing the desktop, so I bit the bullet and used the mini-laptop to get caught up on photos. It was a bit more labor-intensive, but I couldn't wait around for the desktop. It feels so much better to finally be caught up!

I uploaded photos to the following entries:

Completely Random Stuff

This is what Barbie* looks like with no hair
*this is not a genuine Barbie, more of a Dollar Tree imitation, so Barbie's head may look different!

Mommy got time out for saying a bad word!

From here, Shane started taking 'candid photos' while we were eating dinner:

Shane finished first (I take it the spaghetti was good?)... he was obviously bored with watching us eat and decided to start bugging us with the snapping of random photos! :-)

Note the bald 'Barbie', who is also missing a leg!

That poor doll!

Friday Came Early Today

The girls woke up at an unusual hour this morning - FIVE O'CLOCK!

0_O

I have no idea what is up with that, aside from the fact that Chuck brought them downstairs instead of coaxing them back to sleep. When they wake up THAT early, there is no way they are actually ready to be up for the day - something woke them up and if you soothe them they will go back to sleep. Silly Grandpa. So, they came into the bed with us, five people snuggling all together. :) It was cute, except I knew the inevitable would happen - they'd wake Lathel. While he was still sleeping, I just cuddled next to Lorelai and she started rubbing my face, tucking my hair behind my ear, rubbing my head, putting her hand on my shoulder... it was so sweet. Felicity was drifting in and out of sleep, but I rubbed her head and her back every so often. When Shane's alarm went off, Felicity perked up and started talking (exclaiming in excitement that Daddy was awake!) and that's when Lathel woke up.

Usually when I leave the house to go to work, all is quiet and EVERYONE is sleeping. This morning, everyone was wide awake. LOL. When I spoke to mom a bit ago, she said Lathel passed out on his own while watching Shrek with the girls. It will likely be an early nap day for Lorelai and Felicity.

And while I'm on the subject, let me just catch up on some of the new things the girls are saying/doing:

Felicity can provide a lifetime of smiles. I swear that girl is just too cute for words and too cute for her own good! Last week I mentioned that she'd been saying, "Can you hear me now?" and covering her ears. Well, this week, she alternates between that and, "Can you see me now?" as she covers her eyes. It's a cute game where the answer is usually, "No," but sometimes, "Yes." And whenever she sees someone with wet hair, clean clothes, or a towel, her first response is, "Showa?" Potty training took a back seat for the past few months (likely because of Lathel's arrival), but she has been showing increased interest in the toilet again this week, so let's keep our fingers crossed that she keeps up with it and makes progress!

Lorelai is really taking to learning how to swim. The lessons we've had on Saturdays are mostly fun, I think, being that they're only 30 minutes long. It seems the stuff she 'learns' really doesn't kick in until a few days later when she's playing around in the kiddie pool. Like last night, she couldn't wait for Mommy & Daddy to get home so she could show us what she was now doing! I just figured she was going to do a quick dunk of her head, but was I ever surprised when she got right under the water, opened her eyes, and kicked and paddled to the other end (as if our kiddie pool is Olympic sized), all WITHOUT swallowing or gagging on water! She was underwater for a good 3-5 seconds! And she kept doing it and doing it and doing it, so proud of herself. I think she's got it!!! Now I REALLY can't wait for tomorrow's lesson, to see if she is a brave girl and tries to do it in the big, big, big pool.

Intentions

When I first signed up for this blog, I really intended for it to be a Photo Blog and that's it... most people don't have a lot of time to keep up with a bunch of words, so pictures are quick, easy, and... you get the picture! ;)

But, as the girls get older and CUTER with their words and expressions, those sorts of things are hard to convey through photographs. And it isn't often that I have a video camera in hand to capture all the cute sentences, so those moments get stored in my mental memory bank, to hopefully be retrieved at a later date.

HA!

I find it hard enough to locate my car keys on a daily basis, but to shuffle through *MY* brain and recall a specific memory... well, it's getting harder and harder (the more kids we keep having!).

So, having said all that, I'm going to make a greater attempt at documenting the other notable moments that aren't captured by photograph or video. They are truly countless, but I will do my best to share as many of them as possible with our family and friends. Wish me luck!

Stylin'

Yes, those are 'flakes' that you see... can you believe that at 5 months he still has some residual cradle cap (or as we call it, cradle crap)? I was waiting for it to gradually disappear on its own, but it just didn't seem to want to go away. We oiled up his hair and combed it right out. These photos were taken on the 23rd, which was our first attempt, and I'm happy to announce that it is gone as of June 24th!

Instead of combing his hair down, I combed it up into a spiked 'do...

His facial expressions are priceless!

My Boys!

Spending time with Daddy!

Do I look like my Daddy?

*Smooch*

Awww! Snuggling with his duckie!

Look at That Smile!

Grandma made a Popeye Sandwich and when she flipped it over, this was staring back at her!

My Newest Project

Couponing has taken a back seat for now (I seem to go in cycles, depending on how busy we are at the time). I'll get back to it within the next couple of weeks, but for now, we have a garden full of veggies that need to be harvested and preserved before they go bad. Last night Shane and I were out in the garden picking beans until about 9:00. So, I'm now traveling down the canning path. It's actually fun (and VERY, VERY time consuming... I was not at all prepared!) and I am super excited to be doing this. :)

Our computer is still dead, but I took a picture with my cell phone this morning of the fruits (or veggies) of my labor!

Tonight we plan to can some tomatoes!

Long Time No Post

Our computer is currently out of commission. I have been taking photos, but just don't have a computer to upload them, so it might be a few more weeks. This weekend, I hope to find the restoration disks to the computer and get us back to normal. It's almost debilitating not having a functioning computer at home, but it's also been a nice break from technology... it's given us time to sit and enjoy the 'real' world.
